My husband loves reading John Locke books, I think he's read all of them so far and eagerly awaits any new ones. So when he suggested I read Call Me! the first in a separate series featuring a Private Investigator called Dani Ripper, I agreed. Here's what I thought about that first book.

My thoughts on Call Me! by John Locke
Before starting this book I wasn't sure what to expect. The Hubby loves reading John Locke books but we don't always like the same books so I had a little doubt, then I read the first line.
"It's hard to look dignified with a dick in your mouth."
How's that for an opening line? Grabs you right from the start doesn't it? When I read that I thought 'What on earth have I let myself in for?' but it turns out I really enjoyed reading Call Me!
To start with the chapters are short, so it's easy to keep reading. My kindle tells me how long it will take me to read the next chapter, and when each one is 2 or 3 minutes it's easy to keep going. Add to that each chapter ending with a cliff hanger and it's no surprise I finished this book in record time for me.
Another thing I enjoyed about the book is it's mostly dialogue. You're right there within the action all the time and while the main character, Dani Ripper, does some explaining it's easy reading. I liked reading the conversations and it made me feel like I was in the room with them, always good when you're reading.
Call Me is full of heart and humor, and destined to become a hit TV series! I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon than to read this exceptional novel. You’re going to love these wonderful characters. Escapism at its best! Five Big Stars!
The main character has an intriguing back story that she eludes to occasionally and the people she encounters are both interesting and entertaining characters. From her strangely loyal husband to her helper friend they all have a unique ability or characteristic that draws you in.
The story itself is entertaining and kept me turning the pages. There were twists and turns I wasn't expecting and if I'm honest I couldn't put this book down.
Easy reading, exciting twists, and unputdownable.
